About Me. Nicola-Gadsby-Portrait

Qualifications and experience
I have a diploma in psychodynamic counselling, and also trained at Relate as a couples counsellor. I have a post-diploma qualification in time-limited therapy. I am also trained in ACT (Acceptance & Commitment Therapy), which is based on mindfulness (you can read more at Perspective). I worked for two of the largest providers of counselling services in Gloucestershire for several years, gaining experience with a wide range of clients with many different issues.
I now see clients at Cheltenham Trauma & Counselling Clinic (click here) and in my private practice.

How I work
I work within a psychodynamic framework, which means that I'll be listening carefully to what you tell me about the issues you're facing in your life, and we can think together about what might lie behind them. My further trainings in couples work, time-limited therapy and mindfulness have given me additional resources which allow me to adapt my way of working to suit each client.

Accreditation
I am a fully accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, and registered with the United Kingdom Register of Counsellors/Psychotherapists. BACP accreditation is only awarded to experienced counsellors who have fulfilled all the relevant criteria, which includes undertaking their own personal therapy. I adhere to the BACP ethical framework, which means you can be confident that I abide by a strict code of confidentiality, that I undertake regular ongoing training and that I am appropriately supervised.
